What is different about going solar in Tiburon and Belvedere
A clean look
Many homes here go through design review for exterior changes. We use all-black panels, keep conduit out of sight where we can, and prepare clear drawings for the review.
MCE Clean Energy
Tiburon and Belvedere are part of MCE, so MCE usually supplies your power while PG&E delivers it and handles your solar connection.
Wind and salt air
Homes near the water see strong wind and salt air. We choose racking and hardware for the site so the system holds up over time.
Backup during outages
Hillside parts of the peninsula can lose power in fire-season shutoffs and winter storms. A battery keeps your essentials running and solar recharges it.

Our story
Ally is a family-owned solar and electrical contractor in Richmond. Our team was first licensed in 2002 as Arco Electric, and in 2010 we became Ally Electric & Solar. Since then our own crew has helped more than 1,000 Bay Area homeowners, and in 2026 our neighbors voted us a Nextdoor Fave. Some customers have been with us a long time: the Garafolis in Oakland have been saving on their electricity bill since 2016.
"They made sure all PGE paperwork, issues and questions were addressed quickly."
Tiburon and Belvedere solar questions
Do I need a permit for solar in Tiburon or Belvedere?
Yes. Both towns require a permit for rooftop solar and batteries, and some homes also need design review. We prepare the drawings and handle the permit and inspection.
Will design review slow down my project?
It can add time. California law limits how much a town can restrict rooftop solar for looks, and clean drawings with all-black panels usually make the review smoother.
Will a battery keep my power on during an outage?
Yes, if it is set up for backup. During a shutoff the battery powers the circuits you choose, and solar recharges it during the day. How long it lasts depends on what you run. Most homes back up the fridge, lights, internet and some outlets, and add a second battery for more.
Do you work in Marin from Richmond?
Yes. Our office is in Richmond, a short drive over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, and our own crew does the installs.
How much does solar cost in Tiburon and Belvedere?
Most solar systems run $2.60 to $3.50 per watt installed, depending on the roof and the equipment. Battery systems such as Tesla Powerwall 3 or Enphase IQ Battery 10C start from $15,000 installed, before rebates. GoGreen financing is available.
Is Ally licensed for both solar and electrical work?
Yes. Ally Electric & Solar holds CSLB license #806465 with C-10 (electrical) and C-46 (solar) classifications. Our team has been licensed since 2002, and Ally has been in business since 2010.
