How much does a REC solar + Tesla Powerwall 3 system cost in the Bay Area?
As an example, a 10.12 kW REC Alpha system with one Tesla Powerwall 3 is $41,920.70 paid direct. With the HDM Prepaid PPA, the net cost on the same system is about $32,278.94 for qualified homeowners. Your final price depends on system size, roof and electrical conditions, and program eligibility.
What is the HDM Prepaid PPA and how does it lower my price?
With the Prepaid PPA, HDM Capital owns the system and claims the commercial Investment Tax Credit, then passes that value to you as a Prepaid PPA credit. The credit typically ranges from 23% to 25% depending on location, and is subject to credit approval and program qualification.
Is there still a federal solar tax credit in 2026?
The 30% residential federal solar tax credit (Section 25D) expired December 31, 2025, so homeowners who buy with cash or a loan in 2026 receive no federal credit. Third-party-owned systems such as the Prepaid PPA still access the commercial Investment Tax Credit through 2027, which is how savings are passed through now. Please confirm your own situation with a tax professional.
Will I still get a PG&E bill after going solar and battery?
Most likely yes, but a smaller one. Non-bypassable charges and minimum delivery charges still apply while you stay connected to the grid. The goal of solar plus storage is to reduce your PG&E bill and protect against outages, not to remove the utility relationship entirely.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Ally Electric & Solar holds CSLB License #806465 with both C10 electrical and C46 solar classifications, and we are fully insured. One licensed contractor handles both the electrical and solar scope.
Do you use subcontractors?
No. Every install is done by our own in-house journeymen, so your workmanship warranty is backed directly by us.
What warranties come with the equipment?
REC Alpha Pure-RX panels carry a 25-year product and performance warranty, and Tesla Powerwall 3 carries Tesla's manufacturer warranty. We also stand behind our own workmanship.
Can a Tesla Powerwall 3 back up my whole home?
It can back up your whole home or a set of essential loads, depending on your home's electrical demand. We size the system to your usage during the free assessment.
