Alameda Solar and Battery Installer for AMP Customers

Alameda has its own electric utility. Solar here follows Alameda Municipal Power rules, not PG&E, and the math is different.

Solar and electrical work in Alameda

Ally Electric & Solar installs solar, home batteries, EV chargers and panel upgrades in the City of Alameda. Alameda homes get electricity from Alameda Municipal Power (AMP), and new solar customers are credited monthly at AMP's avoided renewable energy cost, so how much of your solar you use at home matters a lot.

What is different about going solar in Alameda

AMP, not PG&E

Alameda Municipal Power is the city's own utility. AMP closed its old net metering program to new customers in August 2017, and new solar uses its Eligible Renewable Generation program, with monthly credits for power you send to the grid.

Why batteries help here

Because exported power earns AMP's avoided cost credit, storing your solar in a battery and using it in the evening often stretches your savings further.

Lower interconnection cost

AMP waives its residential interconnection fee for applications on homes built before 2020, based on AMP's current rules. We check this for your home.

Victorian homes

Alameda has many Victorian and early 1900s homes. We check old wiring and panels and can update them in the same project.

Why homeowners choose Ally

Licensed for both trades

CSLB #806465 covers electrical (C-10) and solar (C-46), so one company handles the whole job.

Our own crew

Installers are Ally employees, not subcontractors. Many have been with us for years.

Ally is a family-owned solar and electrical contractor in Richmond. Our team was first licensed in 2002 as Arco Electric, and in 2010 we became Ally Electric & Solar. Since then our own crew has helped more than 1,000 Bay Area homeowners, and in 2026 our neighbors voted us a Nextdoor Fave. Some customers have been with us a long time: the Garafolis in Oakland have been saving on their electricity bill since 2016.

"They made sure all PGE paperwork, issues and questions were addressed quickly."

Alameda solar questions

Is Alameda on PG&E?

No, not for electricity. The City of Alameda has its own utility, Alameda Municipal Power. Your solar and battery connect through AMP, and we handle that application.

How does AMP pay for solar I send to the grid?

New solar customers are on AMP's Eligible Renewable Generation program, which gives a monthly bill credit for exported power based on AMP's avoided renewable energy cost. Check AMP for current details. We model your savings using those rules.

Does AMP offer an EV charger rebate?

AMP has offered rebates for Level 2 home chargers. Programs change, so check AMP's rebates page or ask us when you request a quote.

How much does a home battery cost in Alameda?

Battery systems start from $15,000 installed, before rebates. The final price depends on panel upgrades, wire runs and how many batteries you want. GoGreen financing is available.

Is Ally licensed for both solar and electrical work?

Yes. Ally Electric & Solar holds CSLB license #806465 with C-10 (electrical) and C-46 (solar) classifications. Our team has been licensed since 2002, and Ally has been in business since 2010.
